Wind Creek State Park

Wind Creek State Park, located in Alabama, is the largest state owned park in the United States. The park spans 1,445 acres and is nestled in a clear water reservoir called Lake Martin. There are 600 campsites, seven cabins and off shore islands to camp on. Along with camping, the park offers sights, attractions and special events year round.
Camping
Wind Creek State Park prides itself on having one of the cleanest lakes in Alabama and the largest state-operated campgrounds in the United States. The 600 campsites consist of 187 waterfront sites, which allows for fishing, swimming and boating. The campgrounds are equipped with laundry facilities and bathhouses. The camping fees range from $18-24, depending on utility use and season.
Fun park activities
Besides camping, families and individuals can enjoy various activities by purchasing a day pass. Activities include eight miles of hiking trails, which are great to teach kids how to ride a bike because of the smooth pavement and open fields. This park contains six playgrounds, a light house and craft activity events for the kids. Another great activity is cliff jumping. The cliff is located 20 minutes south of Wind Creek and is only accessible by boat.
Exciting events at the park
As far as events, Wind Creek is known for some popular events. It hosts a number of fishing competitions such as American Bass Angler Association Fishing Tournament and Georgia Glenn AT&T Pioneer Fishing Tournament. Other events include Indian festivals and water skiing/wakeboarding shows.
